Although we call our products "sight words for kindergarten," you may teach our Dolch sight words to any age child with great success. The front of each sight word card is a powerful aid in reading comprehension, as it shows the child the meaning of the word, rather than just telling the child what the word says. The picture provides instant visual learning and will stay with the child as he encounters the plain word in text later on, continuing to lend meaning to the word.

(5.5 X 4.25") These cards are the best size for initial instruction in sight words as the images are large and clear. The plain word on the back is easily visible when teaching whole group.
Hi, I received my order
[306 Sight Words]
on Thursday, so I've only had two days to try it out. I ordered them to use with a boy who was having great difficulty learning even the first Dolch words list.
Results almost unbelievable! He has already mastered the first set, even to the point of recognizing 95% of the "plain" words. For some of the words, just one pass through the stylized word was enough.
Now I have him teaching another child who is also rapidly learning words that he hasn't been able to read after a year of K and 2 months in 1st grade.

POCKET CHART CARDS
(4.24 X 2.75") Perfect size for sentence building in pocket charts for independent centers, small group word wall activity, or homeschool use. Just rotate the words and activities as needed.
Reverse of card has plain text with sentence & motion. The sentence will teach correct usage of the word, and the motion will help in memory and retrieval of the word.
We've all experienced finding out a child suddenly knows something we have no recollection having taught him. Children absorb so much from their environment, and if that environment is visually rich, their learning will be maximized. Two of our sight word products are designed to faciliate this "passive learning" - learning that does not require a lesson plan, time carved out of the day, nor any effort on the part of the teacher, short of hanging the posters or borders.
We have a landscape for each list of Sight Words, Lists A through E. Landscapes are 24" wide and around 36" tall (depending on the number of words in the list) and come rolled up in a tube. These Sight Word Landscapes make it a snap to display a word wall that is easily visible by the class, and just as easy to move from place to place without having to hang individual cards! Sight words for kindergarten and other grades may be displayed one poster at a time and as children become familiar with one list, simply display the next poster.
Word wall activities that utilize the posters could be having the children answer questions such as "Find the word that is the opposite of "he." "Find the opposite of "big," etc.
Consider how much time our students spend going from place to place during each school week. Why not give them a stimulating and engaging transit time and boost their word power in the process! Our brand new Sight Word Borders, Sight Words-on-the-Run, are not only decorative, but are a great teaching tool! Each individual Sight Word is over 7 inches wide and 4.75 inches tall. The borders are printed on glossy photo paper and come rolled. You may cut the border between sight words to allow for a door opening. There are five borders, one for each List of Dolch Sight Words, A-E. Sight Words-on-the-Run Lists A-C are over 30 feet long. Our Words-on-the-Run are a wonderful teaching tool in hallways beginning in Preschool on up.

Our Sight Word Strip book is an excellent addition to our collection of
activities to teach Dolch sight words
. It is great for reviewing and assessing kindergarten sight words and in later grades for partner sight word review and practice.
This strip book contains all the Dolch sight words from Lists A-E in sentences which are color-coded by level. There are a total of 180 sentences, 36 from each list.
Green contains sentences from list A, light blue is list B, yellow is list C, dark blue is list D, and red is list E. This book combined with sight word card sets makes for an instant center that can be used all year. Children will know to use sight word sets on their own level, then practice reading the sentences that correspond to their level.
This strip book is excellent for individual use, partner use, or teacher assessment of students. Reading and re-reading the book will help build fluency. In addition, the sentences are excellent in a writing center for story prompts. Also available in a 3-pack.
